Lilly ANZ appoints female leader to top seat
Pharma News: Eli Lilly announced changes to their ANZ leadership team with Benjamin Basil, President of North Asia-Pacific and General Manager of Australia and New Zealand soon to assume a new role as the President and General Manager of Eli Lilly China. Tori Brown, General Manager of Eli Lilly Switzerland will succeed Benjamin who has successfully led the North Asia Pacific (NAPAC) Hub over the last three-and-a-half years. These changes are expected to be effective from 1st January 2023, pending work authorisation.
Over the last seventeen years Tori has held various commercial marketing and sales roles with Lilly in the United States, Puerto Rico and most recently Switzerland. She is known for passionately cultivating high energy diverse teams that relentlessly pursue exceptional outcomes for patients.
“I am honoured to be joining the Lilly North Asia Pacific Hub, meeting the incredible people of Australia and accelerating the work we do for patients. Our robust pipeline makes this an exciting time for Lilly as we continue our pursuit for the next great discovery and for even more ways to make life better for people around the world,” said Ms Brown.
“As I move into the role, I’m eager to get to know my Eli Lilly teammates and to learn about the culture, the healthcare system and the business in Australia and New Zealand. My goal is to ensure we’re doing our part to make an impact not only on the patients who benefit from our medicines, but also on society as a whole,” Ms Brown said.
Tori holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from University of Minnesota.
Under Benjamin’s leadership Lilly ANZ has seen significant sales revenue growth and has been externally recognised two years running as an Excellence Awardee in the prestigious annual Australian HR Awards, for building a diverse and winning team culture and championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). In addition, Benjamin successfully led the company through the challenges and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on Tori’s appointment Benjamin said “Tori is an accomplished, commercially-minded leader who cares deeply about people and puts patients at the centre of every decision. Tori is committed to coaching and developing people beyond their own potential, and I am looking forward to seeing the Lilly ANZ team continuing to grow and deliver for our patients under her leadership.”
Benjamin, who was appointed as Lilly’s President & General Manager ANZ and North Asia Pacific in January 2019, will succeed Julio Gay-Ger as the President and General Manager of China and will continue to sit on the Lilly International Leadership Team.
