LifeHealthcare reveals next-gen Verisus robotic system

MedTech & Diagnostics News: LifeHealthcare has showcased the next-generation Verisus robotic system at the CR24 Colorectal Spring Meeting in Melbourne.

In partnership with CMR Surgical, based in the UK, LifeHealthcare secured Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval for the Versius Surgical System in 2021. The system features an open surgical console and independent bedside units, offering flexibility and versatility across various surgical procedures. It has already been utilised in urological, gynaecological, and general surgeries.

CMR Surgical has recently unveiled its latest innovation, vLimeLite, a new imaging technology that employs near-infrared fluorescent light to enhance visualisation during surgery. This technology reacts with the injectable medical dye indocyanine green (ICG) to illuminate blood vessels and tissue perfusion, as well as the anatomy of the body’s bile ducts, surpassing what the naked eye can detect.

Supratim Bose, CEO of CMR Surgical, remarked, “This is the most significant update of Versius since it launched back in 2019. We have listened to the needs of surgeons, and I’m delighted that we have been able to give them what they want – a best-in-class ICG product that we know will make a real difference for their patients.”

One of the notable advantages of the Versius system is its design, allowing it to be conveniently positioned against the wall when not in use, ensuring that the surgical theatre remains fully operational.

vLimeLite has initially launched in the UK, Ireland, and Hong Kong, with a global rollout to follow, pending local regulatory approvals. Additionally, further product launches are planned as part of the Versius Plus initiative throughout 2024.
